The kings of Denmark and Poland were the godparents to little Princess Wilhelmine, who was born on 3rd July 1709. Thanks to Prussian marriage politics, Princess Wilhelmine's path through life was
directed towards Bayreuth; and so she blessed us with a wonderful heritage of buildings and parks, which are unique in Europe.
The Margravial Opera House, the New Palace, the Court Garden (Hofgarten) and the Eremitage are testimony to the life of an extraordinary woman, and they have considerably influenced the townscape
of Bayreuth.
