Interkulturelle Woche

Our program of the intercultural week 2023 in English

Our program of the intercultural week 2023 in English

Dear fellow citizens,

“New Spaces-Diversity Makes Culture”. Under this motto the city of Bayreuth is opening this year’s intercultural week from September 23 to October 1. An intercultural market of opportunities, as well as an international and an international church service will kick off the Intercultural Week around the area of the city church. Bayreuth stands for tolerance, diversity and democracy. It is open-minded and colorful! Numerous associations, initiatives and organizations are represented with booths, which present their projects and actions. Interested people can talk to the Actor and get informations  about volunteer opportunities. Intercultural Week – that has always meant: creating new spaces, opening up, showing- and also demand, protect and defend. New spaces for encounters of the exchange for laughing together and thinking together, for the and to think together, to argue and to find each other. The motto leaves a lot of room for maneuver and at the same time creates a connection – between the many ideas and opportunities that are brought to the streets, squares and houses. But also into the minds and hearts of the people. The variety of formats ranges from intercultural festivals, exhibitions and lectures cooking together, workshops, readings, film, music and theater performances.

My thanks go to all the organizations, all the organizers and contributors who offer us opportunities to meet, talk to each other and get to know each other. Get into conversation with each other and get to know each other. In this way it is possible to overcome prejudices and create “new spaces” for dialog, togetherness and participation.

You are cordially invited to visit the various events and especially to the kick-off and the start of the Intercultural Week, which we will celebrate together with an International Service in the Stadtkirche, when the motto will be: “New spaces-diversity makes culture!”

Yours Thomas Ebersberger
